138 Tower Park in Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture is regarded as one of the best public parks in Japan and features the tallest arch style tower in Asia. The park offers a lot of interesting things to do and see for the whole family.

One of the highlights of the park is the spectacular 138 meter high observation tower with dual arches, which gives the park its name. The Ichinomiya Twin Arch 138 tower was built in honour of Ichinomiya City. In fact, 138 can be read in Japanese as ichi-(no)-mi-ya. Japanese people love this kind of thing and you will see this number appear regularly around the city.

The tower is the tallest arch style tower in Asia and contains an observation deck 100 meters above the ground. The magnificent 360 degree panoramic view from the observation deck is like looking in from another world. You can see awesome views of the surrounding area including the peaks of the Japan Alps, Nobi Plain, and Ise Bay. If you look close enough you can even see Nagoya Station’s JR Central Towers. Admission to the tower is 500 yen for adults and 200 yen for children.

Other highlights of the park include a rose garden called the Rose Stream with 9 different varieties of around 4,000 perpetual roses. The rose garden has been designed to represent the flowing swirl of a river to the sea. The garden is at its best twice a year, from the middle of May to early June, and again from the end of October to early November. There are other gardens as well which feature seasonal flowers such as cosmos, tulips, hyacinths and poppies. The park is also one of the best spots in Aichi Prefecture to see the beautiful cherry blossoms in spring.
