Please Be Nice To Me!

Posted by Bren Inou on July 06, 2009

My goodness, I’m almost at 20 articles with Games To Dust! So much have I learned about video games over the last few weeks. I started to play video games online again, No not World Of Warcraft or Modern Warfare. Maybe a little Pokémon but the game I’m talking about is Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2009! I know it’s an anime based game but I have found some enjoyment in it. I love games that make me collect stuff. I think that’s a big thing for me with the more modern video games. That and I want to be able to trade whatever things it is and use it to battle another opponent be it trading cards or small little Pokémon creatures. If I can collect and trade it. The more I want it.

Its not that my competitive side is growing or anything but the idea of playing online and not actually have to deal with another player is kind of cool to me. In Yu-Gi-Oh! 2009 for the Nintendo DS, you can download what’s called “Ghost Data”. Basically it lets you download a person off the leader board and you play a computer version of that particular player. I think its a great way to see how people are playing online without the risk of people laughing at you for stinking at the game. Just so you know I’m 2 for 2 in online Yu-Gi-Oh! I have 188 rating right now.

Also in Pokémon: Platinum you can download battle tower data and play against “Ghost” versions of real life Pokémon trainers. But for now, I’m just sharing my most recent experiences with online games. In Japan I noticed a whole bunch of people play Pokémon online. One day I was riding my awesome silver Panasonic bike across Toyama and noticed a bunch of children playing with their Nintendo DS’s and pulled up and asked what they were playing. Being new to video games at the time I was curious and they showed me Pokémon diamond and pearl.

As a quick side note, I made a comment about this a few weeks ago about allot of girls from Japan playing Pokémon: Platinum named Hikari being online. Actually after watching the animation version. I came to realize its the name of the girl character from the cartoon so I guess they were just naming the girl character Hikari because that is who she is on the animation version of Pokémon.

My personal opinion, I really would like to see more games allow you to download “Ghost” data of other players like I said before to see how others are playing online. The only negative to Yu-Gi-Oh! 2009 doing this is that you can only keep the ghost information for only 24 hours. Plus it will let you get some practice especially if you freak out when its time to actually play against another human player.

Being able to keep ghost data in itself makes me want to play more since it gives me the idea of collecting more things! Well that’s really all I wanted to say this week. Well I do have one more thing to say. I do think it is more pleasant to deal with ghost data since the actually people may not be so nice and that can be discouraging too, All I really need to have a great online experience is just nice, pleasant people to play with.
