When visitors first come to Japan, the country can present a massive challenge. Finding accommodation, making friends and taking care of all the bureaucracy can make starting out in this country feel overwhelming. Luckily OLJ Academy understands this and has made itself into a school designed to ensure this transition is as easy as it can be.

To help students get set up in Japan quickly and get the most out of their studies, OLJ has set up a system that helps its students find quality accommodation as soon as possible. Many students opt to stay at the school’s comfy dormitory that is only a 3-minute walk from the academy.

The accommodation offers an affordable place to live in the heart of the capital. The building is located in the middle of the vibrant Shinjuku area. The surrounding area is famed for its range of experiences: from its parks and coffee shops during the day to its choice of excellent dining and vibrant nightlife only a short trip away after sunset.

While not enjoying the local area, the school offers plenty of reasons to stay on campus and interact with the other students. Expect to see plenty of interesting conversations happening in the wide lobby that is one of the most attractive features of the school. The language institute is also well-equipped for study with plenty of places to chat, free WIFI and a room dedicated to self-study.

As well as these attractions, the school provides its students with plenty of opportunities to practice your speaking skills inside and outside of class. Even the local businesses are part of the immersive experience as representatives often come to class to give the students the opportunity to have an authentic conversation with a Japanese small business owner. In a city that is as business-orientated as Tokyo, this type of experience is invaluable.

OLJ is proud of its record of helping students start their own careers too by offering courses designed to get them up to the level that they can apply for one of the famous universities in Tokyo or elsewhere. Regardless of whether students have their eyes set on academia or not, all students are offered the services of a guidance teacher who will give them individualized advice on the steps to take to achieve whatever their goal is in Japan.

So whether you want to enter the world of Asian business, study for a university or simply just improve your Japanese skill, OLJ Academy has a course to suit you. From short-study courses that run only a couple of weeks to the longer courses that last a couple of years and everything in between, there really is something for everyone.

In the summer of 2017, there will also be the opportunity for students to study in the Japanese Learning and Culture Experience courses. These unique courses offer students a chance to involve themselves in courses that cover either the traditional or modern aspects of Japan.

The traditional course option consists of 12 days in Japan’s cultural heartland, Kyoto. This will be a chance to experience Japan’s traditions including everything from Nishijin weaving techniques, taking part in a traditional tea ceremony, making Japanese sweets, visiting temples and enjoying the natural sights at Lake Biwa.

The modern course option lets students choose between 11- or 19-day packages and experience all the attractions of the vibrant capital, Tokyo. From experiencing the sights of the Nakano Broadway area, seeing the exhibitions at museums dedicated to Doraemon’s creators Fujiko Fujio and the anime genius Ghibli, trying to catch ‘em all at the Pokemon center, or paying a visit to Tokyo’s famous maid cafes, the course is a great way to experience a wide variety of what the capital does best.

The students on other courses needn’t feel left out either as OLJ Academy has a broad range of extracurricular activities designed to help learners get the most out of their time in Japan. Each season offers unique events for the students to expand their horizons. Students are encouraged to take part in activities that include climbing the iconic Mt. Fuji, cherry blossom-viewing parties, wearing traditional yukata and even having a day of magic at Japan’s beloved Disney resort.

By learning about both the traditional and the modern face of sides of the Japanese experience, students can acquire a deeper understanding of the unique culture on these islands. Regardless of your studying goals, OLJ academy will help you get there in the most enjoyable way possible.
