Comic Market, better known as Comiket, is a massive gathering for lovers of manga, anime, and video games. The winter edition will take place this week at Tokyo Big Sight. Shop from thousands of exhibitors hawking comic goods and original, independent manga. There’ll also be lots of top notch cosplayers to meet and photograph!

RIZIN Fight World Grand Prix
Though the promotions have changed through the years, Mixed Martial Arts has been a New Year’s Eve tradition in Japan for more than a decade. For this year’s iteration, new company RIZING has coaxed Fedor Emelianenko, the greatest MMA fighter of all time, out of retirement for a bout against kick boxer Singh Jaideep.

Meguro Gajoen New Year’s Celebration
While much of Tokyo shuts down after NYE, Meguro Gajoen will be hosting a three day food festival to ring in 2016. You can participate in a New Year’s tea ceremony, see sumo wrestlers pound mochi, and eat special cuisine from Japan, China, and the west.

Heaven’s Door 25th Anniversary
