Sanno Festival

The Sanno Festival is one of the three largest festivals in Japan, with roots dating back to the Edo period. Numerous events involving traditional dance and music will be held throughout the 11-day celebration. Of special note is Saturday’s Nagoshi Children’s Festival, where adorable youth perform a ceremony while dressed in feudal costumes.
Business Networking with the PCC

PCC is the Pink Cow’s monthly business networking event. Every second Tuesday, English-speaking professionals are invited to make connections and share ideas while enjoying good food and interesting presentations.
Tsukuji Shishi Festival

This myth-heavy festival celebrates the day a fox god rose from the sea to block the waves and allow for the construction of Tsukuji. During the festival townspeople carry massive floats and shrines representing mythic lions, tigers, and dragons.
Tokyo Artistic Ensemble “Perspectives”

This unique art project started with a piece by international painter Frankie Cihi, but where it ends up will be determined by other artists who will interpret her work on stage. As curator and director Wendell T. Harrison describes it: “The idea came from a trip to an art gallery where my colleague and I couldn’t decide on what the artist was portraying. From there, we thought it would be interesting not to have a verbal conversation about what we see, but to put it on stage.”
2manydjs at Womb

Superstar Belgian House-duo 2manydjs will be performing this Thursday at Womb in a “premium showcase.” Local support includes Masatoshi Uemura and Monkey Timers.
Vietnam Festival

The cultural festivals in Yoyogi park continue this week with a celebration of Vietnam. Vietnamese art, culture, and commerce will be on display, as will 50 booths of Vietnamese cuisine. Enjoy plenty of pho and Vietnamese beer. Traditional music as well as modern acts like idol Van Mai Huong will perform.
Firefly Festival

- Admission: Free from 18:00 – 21:00
Spend a romantic evening in Yuyake Koyake Fureai no Sato village. 2,500 fireflies light the evening sky along the banks of the Kita-asa river. This event is the perfect transition from spring to summer.

The Sanno Matsuri takes place in even numbered years, alternating with the Kanda Matsuri. The next one won’t be until 2016.
